The experience of canoeing in the majestic Rapti River or Dhumre can be both a peaceful and a thrilling experience. During the slow ride in a traditional dug-out canoe, you will get a breathtaking view of the Chitwan National Park as well as its different wildlife. Bird lovers will be pleased to view different species of birds like the Kingfisher, Egret, Cormorant, Pond Heron, and Open Billed Stork. However, the most thrilling part of the ride is the opportunity to see two species of crocodiles, Called Gharial and Marsh Mugger. As the critically endangered Gharial is only found in the northern part of the Indian Subcontinent, you are certainly not going to regret its sighting.

The chance to flow along with the river taking close look at the crocodiles and wild beasts on the river bank is a very popular activity in Sauraha. It is also possible to reach Ghatgain, another tourist spot of Chitwan by canoe approximately 18 km down streams from Sauraha.

A journey down the Rapti river in a traditional ‘dugout canoe offers you the chance to quietly observe the exotic species of birds and animals that come for a sip at the riverside.

In a Canoeing ride on the Rapt River, you see the popular Marsha Mugger and Gharial Crocodiles in sand banks. You can see close proximity to them from your dug-out canoe and the naturalist guide you in their proper way. During the Canoeing, you can see the many species of birds, reptiles, and more on the river.
